Yes, the man who just came out of the welcome bay was most certainly wearing a shockingly pink jacket. Under it, he had been wearing a black shirt, but now hit was over one arm to show off the odd looking tattoo over his whole chest. A Kelsheen mark. Never knew when it would be useful. He had his axe in one hand. He was ready to shred, if he could find someone to jam with.

Yeah, the man had just been kidnapped. He looked remarkably calm about it, in fact, he seemed almost cheerful. He found a seat after a bit, pulled his axe into his lap, and then started playing, watching people to see who might come near, and figuring out who he could ask for more information than the projection had given him.

Question number one being.... where was Miranda?

"Or maybe it is a heart. Though that is interesting. A memory? How so?"

"Well, that's what the brainiacs said. We don't have hearts or feelings, they're just memories from before."

[donovan_deegan]

"Well you do seem to have one to me. Even if I'm not a brainiac. But before what?"

[melodiouspacifist]

"When I used to be a Somebody." He smiled and sipped the rest of his milkshake down. "But I had my heart taken so now I'm a Nobody. It's been a long time."

[donovan_deegan]

"And how exactly was it taken?"

[melodiouspacifist]

That was a topic of conversation best avoided usually. He shifted uncomfortably at the memory.

"A shadow snuck up on me and stole it and that was the end of my Somebody."

[donovan_deegan]

"A... Shadow...?" A Demon? Infernomancer? Hmmm. He wished Dominic were here....

[melodiouspacifist]

"They're like little heartless creatures with claws. They go after Somebodies and take their hearts if they get ahold of them." He didn't mind them then, but he didn't have a heart anymore.

[donovan_deegan]

"I see." He didn't. But that was beside the point. "These aren't memories, but actual emotions. So whatever happened in the past, perhaps coming here undid it. You have a heart, my young friend."

[melodiouspacifist]

"It doesn't feel like it." He'd probably be skeptical until he felt a beating in his chest.

[donovan_deegan]

"And what would make it feel like it, I wonder?" he asked, taking another bite of his apparently very large burger.

[melodiouspacifist]

"I don't know, maybe if I had a heartbeat. But I don't, so, no heart."

[donovan_deegan]

He ran a hand through his hair, thinking a moment then grinned. "Oh. is that all?"

"Alright, here we go. I see the confusion now. There is more than one kind of heart, kiddo. There is the physical heart that is an organ. Pumps blood to carry oxygen to the human body. It beats. It's why humans have a pulse."

"The other heart is the center of emotions. It's not physical, and it moves. It is the heart people talk about giving to someone else. It is the heart that can break, that can shatter, and can mend. You have this kind of heart."

"You might lack the physical one but honestly? We're not all built the same. I know someone who is lacking half his teeth and his eye and his leg. Still a person. Still worth knowing. The leg didn't make him more or less of a person. So you lack a physical heart. Maybe. Means nothing about your emotional one, and so long as you are alive, it is the emotional heart that matters."

"Isn't it all the same thing? I mean, you need both, right?" He honestly believed it was the same.

"And I don't. Feel. Not really. Maybe someday, but..." He ran fingers through his hair and smiled. If he could feel, he imagined he'd find the whole thing distressing.

"Perhaps, perhaps not. Magic tends to thumb its nose at science quite often. And then there are racial considerations. Take Orcs, for example. They have organs we don't, for digesting certain roots of Maltak. To them it is incomprehensible that we can survive without those organs, that we can eat. Pretty sure Jacob never bothered to give Quilt - his golem - a digestive system, but trust me when I say you don't want to be around him when he has beans."

"Orcs? I don't know any orcs...I don't even think I've seen one." Demyx hummed softly.

"I don't know how these things happen. Magic...I only know my magic."

[donovan_deegan]

"I can speak Orcish, if you wanted to hear," he said with a grin.

"I've been around a lot of magic in my time, I can look within for you, if you wish."

"What do you mean, look within?" He asked, mildly curious. As long as it didn't come with some long explanation of things he didn't understand, he could maybe appreciate it.

"Check for a heart."

[melodiouspacifist]

He blinked, bewildered.

"You could do that?"

[donovan_deegan]

"Sure. The test is a little complicated, but I could run it."

He paused a moment. Did he really want to know?

"I...yeah, okay."

[donovan_deegan]

"Alright, we need to find somewhere where he have space, and where no one will complain about the noise."

"Well, if you're done eating, we can go to the park." Demyx answered and pulled out some money to pay the bill.

He nodded, "that could work. And thank you for the meal.Miranda always said that any meal with the word ham in it was just perfect for me, after all."
