Yes, the man who just came out of the welcome bay was most certainly wearing a shockingly pink jacket. Under it, he had been wearing a black shirt, but now hit was over one arm to show off the odd looking tattoo over his whole chest. A Kelsheen mark. Never knew when it would be useful. He had his axe in one hand. He was ready to shred, if he could find someone to jam with.

Yeah, the man had just been kidnapped. He looked remarkably calm about it, in fact, he seemed almost cheerful. He found a seat after a bit, pulled his axe into his lap, and then started playing, watching people to see who might come near, and figuring out who he could ask for more information than the projection had given him.

Question number one being.... where was Miranda?

"Unless you're giving him goods in exchange for your resignation, I can safely say you're not a trader."

Demyx replied by merely offering a smile and a shrug. His puns were certainly silly, after all.

"Is this boss of yours here? I think I'd like to meet him."

He shook his head. "No, if he was, we wouldn't be speaking."

Demyx couldn't imagine Xemnas changing his tune if he came to that world and suddenly allowing him to try and regrow his heart.

"You and him? Sounds good. But I certainly could. And if he's not here, guess you don't have to work for him til he is."

"No, I mean you and I." He smiled again like it was a defense mechanism and waved his hand.

"We're not really supposed to get involved with anyone."

[donovan_deegan]

"Uh huh. Well you can take comfort. I'm already happily married." Not what you meant by getting married, too bad. He was going to grin and give you a hard time anyway.

Wow, he could feel Miranda glaring at him from here....

"What?"

He needed a moment to process that and he blinked, eyes widening. "Oh! Oh! That wasn't what I meant. I mean...uh...I don't know if he'd care about...that, I mean maybe he would? I never asked!"

He looked like he was backpeddling, quick.

Donovan was laughing, and slapped him on the shoulder. "I was kidding. I know that's not what you meant, but I'd like to know what you did> mean, however."

He smiled, relieved, at least he wasn't being misunderstood.

"I'm not supposed to talk to people, really, unless it's mission-related. The Superior doesn't like it. We're sort of supposed to just stick with other Nobodies."

[donovan_deegan]

"Other Nobodies." He made a face at Demyx. "No one is a nobody unless they chose to be. And letting someone treat you like that is a choice. So is walking away from them. I know which choice I'd be making, if anyone ever called me a nobody and told me who to be friends with, son."

"Capitalized. It's just the name for what we are." He said with a dismissive little wave. Everyone seemed to think that was terrible.

"Um, I don't think I'd be allowed friends." From what Lea told him, that was the idea.

"I know people think that, but I can't walk away."

"Not allowed friends?" Oh this was bringing back some very unpleasant memories. And some more recent ones that could have ended as badly for his son as it had for so many other seers. No, he'd saved his ex-girlfriend from such a group, and in doing so unwittingly almost got his son killed. This time he would save a stranger, and ensure that that didn't come back to hurt anyone...

His face was settled into a grim mask as he shook his head. "I am afraid I do not understand what kind of boss would require such a thing," he liked skillfully. He knew exactly what sort of monster he was dealing with. And if he met this so-called 'superior' he'd care his initials into more than his or her clothes....

"No. Something about connections helping with replacing my heart, and that's a bad thing according to him." It would have made him further unsuitable for the Superior's plan.

"He's just..." He waved his hand. "Not nice." He seemed to by trying to sidestep the issue without too much detail, but it was bothering him so much that any pressure kept getting him talking.

"And if he's, as you put it, not nice... why exactly can't you quit and get a job you're better suited for?"

[melodiouspacifist]

"It's not a job you can quit. If I walked out, I'd be a traitor and traitors are eliminated." He answered as this was a normal condition of work. He was back and forth on whether or not things bothered him or not. It was confusing to him.

"That's not called a job working for a boss," he said, gently, "That's called being a slave. Or, I suppose, a contract with a Demon. Didn't sell your soul to one, did you?"

"No I still have my soul, I think." Demyx mused, although he wasn't too sure about that.

"I don't know about that but..." He sighed a little bit. "It's how it is."

[donovan_deegan]

"Then what you need is a safe way to get out of that job. What you need, really, is a hero. And you're in luck."

[melodiouspacifist]

He just laughed at that.

"Maybe, but I don't think heroes come for the bad guys."

[donovan_deegan]

"Coming for the bad guys, one way or another, is exactly what heroes do."

[melodiouspacifist]

"You know what I meant." Demyx waved his hand a little bit. "I'm..not a very good person." He knew that too, just what he'd been willing to give up to get his heart back.

"So, you don't have to worry about this."

[donovan_deegan]

"How many stories do you know, kid? How many tales of great heroes?"

[melodiouspacifist]

"Uh, a few I think? I'm not sure. They all come in, destroy the bad guy and save the world." Demyx said, nodding enthusiastically.

[donovan_deegan]

"As an over arcing story, yes. Generally. But what about the specifics. What drove them to be a hero?"
